In 1996 the Ministry of Health announced the launching of the Preschool Speech and Language Initiatives across Ontario. All sites administering speech and language services at that time partnered together to create one system of service. The Niagara Children’s Centre was designated as the lead agency for Niagara. Over time, we have evolved to having the Niagara Children’s Centre and the Niagara Health System as the two partner agencies that work seamlessly together to provide a fulsome service across Niagara under the direction of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. The program also functions with an advisory committee that meets three times per year to review services, data and budgets. This committee is made up of representatives from the two partner agencies as well as many community partners involved in early years’ services.
